This EPSRC-funded network promotes
the coherence of UK research at the interface between atomic, condensed
matter, and optical physics by bringing together researchers from different
communities with a common-interest in cold-atom physics.
Network activities include:
- Annual meetings - the next will be held on 17th and 18th September 2009 at the University of Durham
- "Outreach" meetings that showcase the opportunities offered by cold-atom physics to researchers from different communities
- Support for visits to
- develop collaborations between researchers from different institutions
- enable high-profile international visitors/speakers, hosted by a particular research group, to visit and give talks at other institutions within the network. Click to apply for funding.
- "Bulletin board" communication that builds on connections formed at the meetings
An important feature
of the network is that it will be open to researchers from UK Universities,
research institutions, or companies who wish to enter the cold-atom
area. If you are interested in participating in network activities,
please contact: mark.fromhold@nottingham.ac.uk
The network is managed by a Steering
Committee comprising Dr. A. Arnold (Strathclyde), Dr T. Freegarde (Southampton),
Prof. T.M. Fromhold (Nottingham), Prof. M. Gunn (Birmingham), Prof.
E. Hinds (Imperial), Dr. I. Hughes (Durham), Dr. A. Ivanov (Cardiff) and Dr. J. McCann (Belfast).
